ICT InTraffic strengthens European position with innovation and impact
- 2 December 2025
"That is why we have consciously focused on more European presence this year, including with our participation in the UITP Summit in Hamburg," says Bob Brands, Business Unit Manager at ICT InTraffic. In this way, we strengthen our network and show that we not only develop software but offer solutions that make mobility future-proof and cross-border.
A highlight in 2025 is the introduction of Ariadne, our solution for better travel information in the event of disruptions – an urgent theme due to the complexity of the current service providers. The nomination for the OV Innovation Award during the OV Expo confirmed its relevance. Brands: "With Ariadne, we support transporters in the event of disruptions in the chain, so that they can inform travelers faster and with reliable information."
European capacity scaling
In addition, ICT InTraffic introduced European Delivery for scaling up capacity with more flexibility, cost savings and continuity. "By combining local presence with teams elsewhere in Europe, we optimally unburden clients. By working with teams within Europe, it remains easy to stay connected and to deploy expertise quickly," says Brands.
In 2026, ICT InTraffic will continue to focus on Europe, using knowledge and experience from abroad for the Dutch market and cooperation with existing customers. "A milestone will be InnoTrans 2026, where we will show solutions for vehicle communication and train safety."
"We are working on ERTMS developments for ProRail, and we are making it possible for transporters, train suppliers and rail contractors to drive vehicles on both the 'old' STM-ATB and the new ERTMS train protection system"
ERTMS train protection
"We also remain fully active in the rail market. For example, we are working on ERTMS developments for ProRail, and we are making it possible for transporters, train suppliers and rail contractors to drive vehicles on both the 'old' STM-ATB and the new ERTMS train protection system," says Brands. This is not only about technology, but above all about safe, efficient and future-proof cross-border rail transport. "We also see this reflected in our collaboration with ProRail within the modernization program Verdelen en Besturen 2030."
Human control of AI
AI is a current theme, but this also brings challenges around reliability and security. Brands: "AI helps our developers work more efficiently and supports users of our solutions in planning and adjusting. But especially with security- and availability-critical systems, human control remains indispensable." That's why we integrate AI carefully: as a tool that accelerates decisions and improves optimizations, without replacing human responsibility.
With innovation, international focus and solutions that respond to the growing complexity of European mobility, ICT InTraffic is looking to 2026 with confidence. Brands concludes, "Our goal is to use technology and services in such a way that travelers travel smarter, safer and more reliably, while our customers remain in control of their mobility."
