Early Detection of Health Risks
The earlier health risks become visible, the greater the opportunity to act in time. Guided by that principle, ICT Group contributed to the European Horizon 2020 research project iHelp (Personalised Health Monitoring and Decision Support Based on Artificial Intelligence and Holistic Health Records), helping to develop an innovative platform for health monitoring and clinical decision support. The project focused on identifying and mitigating risks related to pancreatic cancer at an earlier stage, addressing a disease that is often diagnosed only after it has advanced.
Fifteen partners from nine European countries brought their expertise together within iHelp. Hospitals, universities, research institutes, and technology companies collaborated on a data-driven solution that helps healthcare professionals identify risk patterns earlier and make timely, well-informed decisions. This combination of medical knowledge, research, and technological innovation made it possible to approach a complex healthcare challenge from multiple perspectives.
Building a Holistic Health Record
ICT Group brought together its expertise in data integration and monitoring to help develop a platform that unites diverse data sources in a Holistic Health Record (HHR). Medical records, laboratory results, lifestyle data, patient questionnaires, and information from wearables come together to form one current and coherent view of a patient’s health. This creates the rich context needed to look beyond individual medical data points and better interpret changes in a patient’s health.
AI-Powered Decision Support
Building on this integrated data foundation, the platform uses advanced AI and analytics to continuously assess health risks. Risk scores, alerts, and personalised recommendations translate complex data into actionable insights for healthcare professionals. In this way, iHelp supports a more proactive approach: potential risks become visible earlier, preventive measures can be considered sooner, and the quality of care can be further improved.
iHelp also enables patients to take a more active role in monitoring their health. Mobile applications and connected sensors can collect data on lifestyle, activity, and wellbeing over time. This gives patients and healthcare providers greater insight into relevant developments and strengthens the foundation for a personalised, preventive approach that brings together continuous monitoring, data integration, and intelligent decision support.
Impact on Healthcare
With iHelp, ICT Group demonstrates what becomes possible when software engineering, data integration, and artificial intelligence come together around an urgent healthcare challenge. Our contribution to this international innovation project reflects what we stand for as a technology partner: translating complex technology into solutions that support healthcare professionals, strengthen preventive care, and contribute to a better quality of life.
Are you working on a healthcare innovation that brings together data integration, monitoring, and AI? We would be pleased to share our experience from iHelp and explore the possibilities with you.
