The Hollands Noorderkwartier Water Board (HHNK) and ICT Group have successfully modernized the process automation of 15 wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs). The outdated SattLine control systems, in use since the 1990s, have been replaced by the advanced ABB 800xA platform.

During this project, ICT Group developed a standardized software library, a network architecture aligned with current cybersecurity guidelines, and comprehensive reporting tools. Central servers were also set up, and all users and administrators were trained in the new system. A notable aspect of this project was that the installations remained fully operational during the transition—a feat made even more challenging by the COVID pandemic.

The collaboration between HHNK and ICT Group was intensive and constructive. Thanks to thorough preparation, clear communication, and the flexibility of all parties involved, the project was executed almost flawlessly. The result: future-proof, efficiently and securely managed WWTPs that are ready to face the challenges of tomorrow.
