ICT Knowledge Hub Recap: The Fourth Amigo
AI as a thinking partner in software development
- 4 May 2026
Within mere seconds, the nervousness melted away, and within mere minutes, we were discussing how we could possibly fit all the suggestions into our timeframe. The subject matter helped, but even then: I was more than elated to see so many people seize the opportunity to inspire and enlighten others with their unique perspectives!
AI as a Requirements Assistant
Lucas Saldanha da Gama Pina & Joyeeta Chatterjee
Lucas (ICT) and Joyeeta (ICT) have been experimenting with using AI to assist with writing requirements and turning them into test cases. Here, they shared their journey on how they gradually got the LLM to behave more and more in accordance with their goals. The results are promising, but still require a human in the loop. Some notable issues were the lack of pushback and questioning from the model.
Joyeeta: “Sharing my experience from the user’s perspective at the event was very satisfying and motivating. It was nice to meet like-minded people and exchange knowledge and opinions on the topic. Hope to attend more such ‘un’-conferences in the future regarding AI!”
Lucas: “I was taken aback by the lack of format, but in a good way. I went in cautious this time, but I look forward to another opportunity to have even better interactions and play with the ‘presentation’ format: what else can we do beyond a PowerPoint?”

Intent2Implement: An AI and BDD love story
Kyra Hameleers & Dennis de Booij
Kyra and Dennis (BDD Testnet Group) started by setting straight many of the misconceptions around Behavior Driven Development. Most notably: BDD is not a testing methodology, but is about creating a shared understanding of the goal of the software being built. After laying the groundwork, they invited the audience to participate through a live survey, where we were asked several questions on how to leverage AI when developing software through BDD.
Kyra and Dennis: “When joining the evening, we did not really anticipate speaking, but when challenged, we remembered a prepared presentation from the Testnet group on our research on AI and BDD love story and decided to step up and take the stage. The result was an interesting conversation and a lot of valuable feedback. We would advise anybody to step up and just share experiences if they join one of these unconferences!”

An approach to automated Gherkin generation
Boudewijn van den Berg
Boudewijn (Philips) explained the automated workflow they built to engineer Gherkin scenarios faster and better, and asked the audience to review its design. During the review, the theme of context management quickly became a common thread: some steps could benefit from additional context data. Another suggestion was to leverage a Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) system to limit the loaded context to what would be relevant to the challenges presented.
The five levels of automation
Ralf van Meer & Yolanda van Dinther
Ralf suggested the perfect subject to end the evening on: a glimpse into the future of AI automation by exploring the five levels of automation, from autocomplete to dark factories. The subject piqued Yolanda’s interest, and after a short back-and-forth, an impromptu collaborative duo was born. The conversation shifted between Ralf explaining how current thought leaders make sense of the AI transition, and Yolanda contextualizing this in relation to people and organizations. The result was a heated but engaging exchange of ideas on the inevitability and impact of AI on our industry.
Yolanda: “I did not prepare a pitch, but when the topic of the five levels of AI development was brought up, I had to chime in! With Ralf setting the stage, I got to add my questions and concerns on how to navigate the impact AI has on our profession.”
Have something to share or a question to ask the community? Please get in touch! Because of the many enthusiastic reactions to this first mini-unconference, we’re planning to do this more often in the future. The next one won’t be an unconference though, but a workshop!
