Faster to certified software. Human-signed. Fixed price. AI drafts the work, a qualified engineer signs every safety step, and you pay a fixed price for the accepted result.

Smardt: five markets, one question

SMARDT stands for Smart mobility, Automotive, Robotics, Defence and Transport. Five markets that ask the same question: how do you move faster without losing control? Our answer is a process with its own toolchain: Evidence Driven Engineering.

  1. Specify. Requirements and acceptance criteria come first, written together with you.
  2. Draft. AI drafts code, tests and documentation inside an orchestrated, access-controlled toolchain.
  3. Verify. Qualified analysis and test tools check every output: static analysis, requirement-based tests, coverage.
  4. Sign. An engineer signs every work product; in safety scope, a qualified safety engineer signs every lifecycle step.
  5. Prove. The evidence bundle is built along the way: traceability, test results, audit log, reproducible build.

We applied this discipline to a convoy of automated trucks driving in close formation, and delivered the full safety case behind it. We match our approach to your risk profile: rigorous where safety demands it, flexible where your prototype needs room to move.

Evidence Driven Engineering: our lane-based, AI-driven development method

AI drafts the code, tests and documentation at every step of your development lifecycle. Our engineers specify, review and sign off. Each work package gets a lane based on its consequence of failure. Your process standard applies across the whole scope; what differs per lane is who signs off, and against what.

LaneScopeWho signs off, against what
Safety laneSafety functions (ASIL, SIL or PL rated)A qualified safety engineer, at every lifecycle step, against the safety requirements
Embedded laneNon-safety embedded code: modules, drivers, utilitiesAn embedded engineer, per module, against unit and integration tests
Product software laneMiddleware, integration layers, platform servicesA software engineer, per integrated increment, against automated integration tests
Delivery support laneTest tooling, CI/CD, documentation, reportsThe delivery owner, on the output, against agreed rules and formats

We take no credit for the AI. Every AI output is verified as if it were written by hand, so safety never depends on the AI being right.

Two different questions about AI

AI in our development process. That is Evidence Driven Engineering: how we build your software faster without weakening safety.

AI in your product. Perception, planning or other machine learning inside your machine raises its own safety questions, under ISO/PAS 8800, the EU AI Act and the Machinery Regulation. We help you structure the safety argument for it.

Smart mobility. Rail, V2X and connected infrastructure carry more software every year, and more of it is safety-relevant. EN 50716, ISO 21448, ISO 21434.

Automotive. Your next ECU release at a fixed price, with the evidence your assessor expects. ISO 26262, ISO 21434.

Robotics. From 20 January 2027, the EU Machinery Regulation 2023/1230 applies. Software that affects safety is part of the conformity assessment: safety functions must be protected against corruption, and safety functions with self-evolving behaviour need a notified body. You need to show your machine is safe, with evidence your assessor or notified body accepts. Our evidence bundle is built for exactly that. IEC 61508, ISO 13849, IEC 62061, ISO 10218, ISO/TS 15066, ISO 3691-4, IEC 62443.

Defence. Certification-ready embedded software from a Dutch team, screened for defence work, every step traceable and signed. IEC 61508, DO-178C, AQAP.

Transport. Fleet digitalisation, infrastructure management and safety systems, with the same evidence and accountability.

CaseProof
Aircraft tugThe central intelligence of a robot that moves aircraft of up to 195 tonnes.
Port logisticsWe helped develop and validate a prototype that drove autonomously in a container terminal without fixed guidance systems, within a European research programme.
Truck platooningA level 3 automated driving system, backed by a full ISO 26262 safety case.
Rolling chassisA modular military vehicle platform, from prototype to lifecycle support.

Proof included, under your rules

Every delivery comes with the evidence bundle: traceability from requirement to test result, quality-gate results, an audit log of who approved what, and a reproducible build. Your code is processed only in approved environments under our TISAX-certified information security management, is never used to train AI models, and is covered by a standard AI usage agreement. Your data stays in the EU; on request, the AI models run in the EU as well. A fully isolated environment is also possible.

Proof of Acceleration: see the speed-up before you commit

How much faster could your next development project go? In a Proof of Acceleration, we show you on your own project, before you commit. You bring an engineering challenge and we agree on the scope together. Within a maximum of two weeks, we review it, get familiar with your context, set up the framework and work through it with Evidence Driven Engineering, our AI-driven development method.

You then get a binding, fixed-price offer covering lead time, price and quality level, so you can compare it side by side with your own estimate. The Proof of Acceleration costs €5.000 (excl. VAT). If you go ahead within three months, we deduct the full €5.000 from the project price.

SectorProof
